well i guess first question is, whether there is a phase plug being used.

and second, what freq range is being covered?

f2b

wsx

all have letterbox baffles

and they are amongst some of the all time best bins around

ASS bs500 or 600 - cant remember which, has that triangular horn entry

mt121 has rectangular entry as you well know.

i'd say its more about pressure , so volume...

well your on my way of thinking...... most cabs have a letter box style baffle...... but this does put differant pressure at differant points on the driver i.e. round driver square hole......... does this have an effect on the sound good or bad. Most baffles are indeed smaller than the driver its self, this does help pressure.....

Lets say the wsx had a round baffle, and the waveguide it fires into was a half round circle leading in to horn. Would it make it sound better. yes a nightmare to build, but lets say it wasnt. what would be the gains.....

bee, i dont believe there would be different pressure at different points of the cone, as air is a fluid thing, its not going to stay in the corner if it can go out. as far as your half circle idea, thats interesting. maybe not a half circle, but a smaller square to begin the horn?

but the letterbox baffle is to get the throat small, whilst still having the air movement behind of an 18'' driver (wsx)

if you had a round baffle, it'd have to be a lot smaller than the driver to maintain the horn. i guess rectangles are just easier to build horns from and end up with an orthogonal box

the 2nd part to the question (good time to ask it)..... then what is the gains of say the way tony ass has his baffles...... round but with a half moon cut out, i know this helps keep the pressure across the cone even when firing in to the waveguide..... does it improve the sound quality.......
