Produce a killer sound. Take no prisoners.
FSP-18-SXY BASS BIN was created by heathrow_b_line
i have been looking at some old doddles and would like to try and build one
aim:
-1.0m x 1.0m x 0.636m if possible [1.2m x 1.2m x 0.636m MAX]
-flat from 35hz to 75hz
-18" cone
the wsx looks like this...
but there looks to be lots of acute folds.
i would like the folds to be more gentle and fold around the driver, like this:
as can seen the height will need to be increased to fit an 18" driver, but thats not too much of a problem. an overall envelope of 1.0m x 1.2m high and 0.636m wide is still manageable
i also want to use the x-tro style front chamber instead of the martin letterbox
so Mr deadbeat, lets see what you've got!!! " img393.imageshack.us/img393/3567/wsxa3assemblynv5.jpg " Edited by: Heathrow_B_Line

Peace and goodwill to all speaker builders

Interesting sketch. What I saw immediately, was two speakers fed in one from each side facing each other terminating through a throat that would feed that horn. With two speakers, you would be able to try push pull mode as well as conventional parallel mode.
Peace and goodwill to all speaker builders

I think mounted so the cone is firing 90degrees to the horn expansion - a la lab?

Nice. A classic bass horn! I hope we get some interest in this one.
If we do it that way, I think a dual 15 would be quite dangerous. 18s are too large and unwieldy.
Though the first sketch is fine as well.

Haha, ok.
How about something like this in terms of folding? It's the old tempest horn by bill woods.

i like my initial design...
nice, simple and easy to build. gets alot of horn length into the cab and nice even cone loading

Okay then.
Foldings are secondary. Let's get hornresping.
