JBL 2445j 2" CD- Horn ideas? was created by MAutopsy
Looking for something to put these in. wouldnt mind building some, but would have to be wood/ filler, as that is all i know how to do as of now. Specs can be found here:
www.jblpro.com/pub/components/2445j.pdf
. The JBL 2380 horns keep breaking on me and are getting rather expensive to come by, as are the clones.

All the horn models have produced in the past have started life being made out of wood and body filler. Apart from the time it takes, the method is inexpensive, so go for it.

A Smith horn, tha's what I've settled on, seems rather simple to construct. Any suggestions? Couldn't find much on 2" smith horns via google

A smith horn wouldn't really be a good choice for PA due to it's directional characteristics (there's a reason why you see them used on studio monitors only really)...they can't really array conventionally.
You have to calculate the plans (it's similar to how I designed my biradial).
Buying a horn would be the easiest and most sensible route, but since this is a DIY forum, I'll echo Tony : calculate a horn, built it out of ply, and use a lot of wood filler to get it nice and smooth.

Try the Eminence 3006 horn. I have used them on several of my 15"/2" traps and they sound great. Its a 60x40 horn, very solidly built, shouldn't have aproblem with breaking. Maybe ad a brace to support the 2" comp driver in your box as well.

Try B&C ME75, 90x40 like 2380A..
www.bcspeakers.com/PDF/PRD/ME75.pdf
But Aluminium so won't break.. ever.. Unlike 2380A..

wow... old topic, I currently have got rid of the 2445's as they are just too heavy, and old. But i have 2 JBL 2380 horns that i will put to use with something.
