I'd be real unhappy, if I bought this thinking it was same power as QSC 4050HD..

I'd feel really stupid if I thought these were going to rival the QSC considering the price tags of both units, not noticing how the ratings are measured and the fact the EP4000 is really a EP2500. I'd also have to question my knowledge of audio equipment if I thought those 2 amps were similar in any way shape or form!

You just wouldn't! And I refuse to believe anyone would!

friend of mine very nearly bought one of these. took much time and repeating to convince him otherwise (although it still seemed like he didnt believe me when i said its the same power as the ep2500.) definatly do not like the way more and more amplifiers are rating the power outputs of their amps. it's definatly misleading/misguiding so many people

I am pretty certain that when the EP2500 first came out the transformer seemed bigger than the one in the photo. The transformers in some dB-Mark amps I have at the moment with the same nominal power dwarfs them.

i realy wonder y all the empty space in these cheepos. i gues its to try and make it look more beefy, but it must be cheaper on materials to build it with a smaller box. cheep is the name of this particular game after all.

i realy know very little of amps, but thanks to the www, in particular you good gents on here and over there, im starting to be able to gauge the quality of an amp from an internal pic, and i wouldnt touch these with a wooden shit shifting pole. realy, why do people pay for these with the crap quality and crap brand image when u can get an old crown ma or the like for similar $$.

whats the actual difference between a ep2500 and the ep4000?

well i'd argue that by making the parts easily accessible/spacious, it's quicker to assemble.

look at the big parts, there's 3 PCBs, with a few connections, heat sinks and fans, couple of pots on the front and a tranny.

the factory line probably put that together in less than an hour, with all the pre assembled boards and bits to hand.

production time to minimum = more profit.

have you ever looked inside the range of powersoft K series amps?
