why cant you link the output of two channels in paralel??? in to one speaker?????

Some of the old DAP amps I owned had a parallel mode which joined the outputs together, allowed it to run into 1 ohm, presumably on very short speaker cables.

You wouldnt gain any output from having the outs linked, you could drive half the impedence, but unless you're trying to power a 2 or 1R sub i dont see any benefit over running in mono, plus there could be issues with the amp not liking it. (i have heard this mentioned before but i dont know anything about it, if the inputs are the same/mono and the volumes are the same, then there should be no potential differance between the 2 positives and 2 negatives)
