Nice. It's cool understanding stuff to that level. Used to be like it with tuning engines, latterly networking. Love to have actually got my head round the topology of such things electrical.

It must have taken some time to file all those heat sinks to shape. Seriously though, once you've done an amp of this size, is it easy to build a much larger one, I assume apart from components, that the principals are the same.

I need to find more cases to build amps into. I've got a reasonable number more PCB's.
In terms of power, this amp is class AB so two fixed supply rails. I think once you go above about 500W/channel you need to start looking at class H or similar with multiple supply rails in order to get the efficiency up and heat dissipation down. I'm yet to look at designing anything like that first. It's on the list with switch-mode power supplies and various other audio tools.
Before this amp is fully finished I need to do a PCB with the power supply, protection circuitry and balanced inputs on it. At the moment the only protection is a mains fuse! While that isn't actually unusual in the hi-fi world for pro audio, I should put some in!

Chris are they based on some DIY kits?
I have just ordered this Kit from China and they have a really nice Class A kit that I might waste some money on. I will let you know what the quality is like when I receive it.

No, I designed the circuit from scratch myself and got the PCB's made locally.

And regarding that little kit, nice to see the translation of the description makes perfect sense! Quite interested in it though.

Slightly disappointed that no mention of my little project has been made on the meet-up thread, ah well...
For those who were there and didn't notice, I did have it running Florians Porn Horn Mk2 for a while. If you remember bursts of 'other music', mainly things like Dire Straits inbetween the D'n'B and Reggae, that was most likely me inflicting it on you.
Managed to do some more testing after the meet where Tallmike and I put it up against an MC2 T1500 on some small EM Acoustics boxes. We could hear little or no difference, so I'd say that was positive result in the testing.
