Volume will probably end up around the 50-60Litre mark, don't want it too big. Tuning can be higher, maybe up towards 60Hz, depends how low they're designed to go.
B&C horns aren't great (old designs) and I know that the 18Sound horn+B&C CD works very well.... I don't think that staying with one manufacturer is that important. Can do a budget option with P-Audio SN15MB, an 8/6" and an SN-D44 or similar.

Ideally, it should be a 2 way active box, I don't like doing any more than 2 way passive, crossovers start getting a bit out of hand.
I would say an active crossover between 300-400Hz which would have to be determined by experiment and a passive crossover around 3-3.5kHz.
Best way is to start 3 way active, design the crossover point then recreate that passively.

ok sounds like a plan...
I'll do some research on 3 way passive networks

Alpha 8 MR can be used from Eminence.
It might be nice to have several recommended drivers
A full price maximum cost best sound quality version
A lightweight neo version
A cheap version

may aswell try an 8mr in the finished cab as they only cost about 20 quid.
this design does seem a little like half a DM2...but then again theres only so many ways you can reinvent a wheel

Exactly, there are only a finite ways of mounting drivers in boxes that work well. Some people may say that some of my cabs look very much like commercial designs. This is not so much because I've copied those cabs, just that after much mulling over designs and a few prototypes that turns out to be the best way of doing it in my opinion.
The difference comes in the finer details, the choice of drivers and very importantly horns, crossover points etc. Plus also at least half the work has to go into making the cab useable. There's no point in a design that sounds great but you can't lift, doesn't pack nicely in the van, doesn't array etc etc...
I've done a prototype recently of two 15NW76's, one 8M400 and an ND1480 on an XT120 flare and it sounded great. Plus a shedload of volume available. With a good 8" and 1" they will easily keep up with a pair of 15" drivers.

Got to say I haven't done a huge amount with them. When the 8M400's arrived I bodged one on the back without a rear chamber (magnet is too big for the back bowl!) and had a play. Didn't really do any scientific testing, just listening but they seem to do what they're meant to. Had a play trying to mount a 1" compression driver co-axially and butchered an XT120 flare in the process. In theory it would work but I think it messed up the flare rate of the M8 too much.
