I think ASS scoops are getting a few DB more because they're built like a brick shit house, not because of the layoutlevyte357 wrote:

I mentioned a month or so ago to lev that the Emi scoop was about 3 db down on a positive layout. So maybe not as loud but sounds warmer, psycho acoustics again or a BP effect smiley20
Remember Mykey, the "only" reason Reggae/dub sounds "still" use scoops is the unmatchable efficiency.
No one I know would want "quiet" scoops  , or would it would mean taking out more cabs, and then problems powering them on UK 13A sockets.
Especially as shortman mini can keep up with many full scoops.

What's the throw/sensitivity like on an 18" TH?
Can 4x of them cover 400 people 38-100hz ?
Are they approx H48"xW25"xD29"?
This is what they need to do/be if they're gonna replace scoops.

I used my MTH at the last reggae show i ran. They sound nice, but they dont seem to throw very far. And i'm a bit worried about taking them outside smiley24 . Great thread BTW, Learning lots! smiley20

@Lev, listening to Reggae with TH is an experience that will win over throw smiley20

Small chamber scoop owners dont argue about throw anymore Mykey.. They just have it..
Cab with no throw winning over scoops, in very small venue maybe..
But medium size or outside against 12x scoops..
