Looking to Build a PA system... was created by Division
A group of us are looking to build a system suitable to host 200/300 person outdoor events. We're mainly going to be playing House and Techno. We've got a budget of about $3500 AUD (or 2000 GBP) and we'll possibly look at sourcing amps second hand. We're experienced wood workers with access to decent equipment so the technical aspect of the build shouldn't be a massive problem. We'd also like something that is possible to scale up in the future.
At this stage we're thinking of possibly building 2xCubo 18 with V18-1000 or PD1850 and the SMT 212 with the recommended PD drivers.
Any advice would be massively appreciated.

If your events are always going to be outside and large, you might want to look at front loaded 18" horns in the future, whilst relying on Cubo 18's till then. Most 18" FLH designs can be loaded with the V18-1000 or the PD.1850 as well, downside to FLH is usually that they need blocks of 4 to get a decent low end. Whereas even a single Cubo 18 will drop just as low but (if space isn't an issue) in general FLH will start to show benefits from 4 in a stack and up.

Best regards

Thanks Cubo,
That is pretty much the conclusion we came to after digging about a bit. We're thinking we'll probably pair them with some SMT 112
