I believe that the effect capabilities of drivers have, in many cases, has gone to far. But build quality is better. So I agree with both of you.
Personally I take a 400WRMS 99dB/1w neodymium over a 1000WRMS Ferrite 95dB/1w any day. At least for pure closed and vented boxes.

As I have limited experience with horns and bandpass i will not go there :D

What seems to be the officer, problem?

I don't want to seem too negative about new drivers. Having plenty of "thermal survivability" means you won't be opening up your cabinets so often.

Also, a low sensitivity is actually desirable if you are using a small box, for example a ported 18" in 4 cubic feet will only drop satisfactory sounding subs bass if you use a driver that has a low sensitivity. Hoffman's iron law demands it. Otherwise you'll rolloff high or be peaky with massive group delay. Or both.
