Ground plane measurement. Will give 1w1m reading. Center is Ok,

I would assume you have been doing measurements outside? You don't have a anechoic chamber so ground plane is used. Anechoic chamber would be 1m. Outside, ground plane is used 2m mic touching the hard surface, which is the equivalent to 1m anechoic chamber

This is why the microphone is placed at 2 meters. Since doubling the microphone distance will decrease the overall sound pressure by 6dB, and make the pressure level recorded equivalent to that of an anechoic measurement at 1 meter.

So what ever readings you have been getting you'd better scrap them (sub)

What is the reasoning behind placing the mic on the ground (1/4 space?) Why would one care what the bass is like laying on the floor? Tony said he measures from head level which makes more sense to me. (1/2 space?)
Just curious as I am about to do some a/b testing......

Placing the microphone and speaker on the floor is ground plane loading. Its also half space loading for the speaker.

Quarter space loading is with the speaker on the floor with its back against a wall.

Eighth space loading is with the speaker in a corner and on a floor.

If the speaker was hanging in the air a long distance from the floor then its in free space.

Taking measurements with the microphone at head height is used when setting up and for EQing a system in a room, like before a gig.

When everyone goes to the golden palace, do they lay on their sides with their ear to the ground to listen to the bass?

Why would I be interested in the response from a bass cab on the floor?
Doesn't seem stupid to me.

why don't you keep your sarcasm, and negative vibes over SP forums? eh?
