how bad would it be to make this a little smaller? 25" tall instead of 30" - 22" deep instead of 19" -- 22" wide instead of 15.5" making the V bin 18" where the speaker is bolted in. putting 2x4 bracing all around the connections and port
want to be able to slide it under a table or turn it on its side and mount a speaker pole
thanks jim-HU

Anybody simulated with hornresp?
The input window of Hornresp with frequency response will be better

This way we can simulate first the drivers we can use.

looking at the plan i would say yes they do touch at both points you have marked out. done a quick rework of the measurments on paper. And again the v does touch the upper and lower part of the baffle, Hope this helps.

the v bit sits level with the driver panal this would leave an 18mm gap to driver. 18mm being the thickness of the ply wood.

most w-bins load from the back, but look at the plans..... the driver sits on the inside of the rear chamber. You may be able to change the plan and load driver from the back.......

On second thoughts you cant change the plan as the v bit would then be wrong.....
xmax extreme replied the topic:

Does the V shape touches on the panel where the speaker is mounted? Or has a small clearance? I was wondering cause it might create some noise during bass vibrations.

Nice design tapped horn really goes low but for long throw it's a fail, this enclosure would work at it's best in clubs and enclosed areas well, if using on the outfield i would recommend incorporating folded horns to accomplish a long throw affect.

As far as I am aware I don't think tapped horns throw as far as folded horns, and they don't gain as much from stacking either. For other questions on the design you might be better off asking on hornplans.free.fr as the designer marc is on there.

Cubo 12

alt

Cubo 12:
Like it’s bigger brothers (Cubo 15/18), Cubo 12 is a multi purpose, stand alone bass bin. It will equal or outrun a single 18” BR* , from 50-55 Hz and up in terms of sensitivity. Given it’s external size of only 97,2 liters Cubo 12 realizes an unusual power full and light weight cabinet.
Cubo 12 will perform with a wide variety of 12” drivers**. The use of strong bass drivers with high power handling resulting in a surprisingly high maximum SPL for such a small cabinet. The usage of lighter mid bass drivers might (dependant on T/S-parameters) results in higher sensitivity, lower weight and extended bass response up to 140 Hz. There’s a good chance that your 10” bass or mid bass driver will perform just as well, except from noting a lower maximum SPL and/or sensitivity.
Development and design:
Based on the proven design of Cubo 15 and Cubo 18, Cubo 12 is designed to perform with 12” (and even 10”) drivers. Due to it’s unusual high SPL-capabilities 15 mm, 11-ply Baltic Birch is the preferred material of construction. Cubo 12 has been tested with a wide variety of 12” bass and mid bass drivers of which the measurements have been listed below.
A single cabinet can easily be made from a sheet of 153 x 153 cm (5’ x 5’) or four cabinets from 3 sheets of 244 x 122 cm (8’ x 4’).
Size: 45x45x48cm     Frequency: From 44 Hz up to 140 Hz     Enclosure Type: Hybrid
Footnotes:* 18Sound 18LW1400 in a 175 liter basreflex tuned to 37 Hz. (6,6 ft^3) vs. Cubo 12 (with all drivers measured).          ** Apart from those drivers measured Cubo 12 will work with a wide variëty of 12" (and 10”) drivers preferably with an EBP of 100 or higher; Fs (30-52 Hz), Qts (0.20 - 0.37), Vas (50 - 125 L) / (1.77- 4.42 ft^3). Where EBP = Fs / Qts. If you're uncertain if a driver is suited, PM or mail me at questionsaboutCubo.at.gmail.com

alt
alt
alt
alt
Note: The red dotted lines indicate how you would be able to cut 4 cabinets out of 3 sheets of 244 cm x 122  cm / 8' x 4'.
The red dotted lines to the outmost right indicate panels equal to the first column (of panels) at the left, for the second sheet the panels at the outmost right would equal the second column from the left, and so on.

It is usually to reduce standing waves. That is when the cab dimensions lend to a rather hideous resonance of wavelengths matching the distance between panels. It is also sometimes used when the box size is smaller than ideal for a speaker, as the ploy fill stuff can slow down a wavelength, and sort of simulates a bigger box.

Hello peeps

I've got a few questions.

Are there any plans for a 15" version of this cab?
If so would the Eminence delta 15LF ( www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=EMIDEL15...wsemode=manufacturer ) work in this cab, would be using them as stand alone bass until i can get some dedicated subs to take over the low freq.

Also im new to all this so im not the most confident of builders so is there anyone here I could ask a few questions on the assembly of the cab/ reading the plans etc, it would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks

Mikkel
