Okay thanks a lot man, coz tbh I'm really low on cash so I don't know how I'm going to be able to get an amp and obviously I dont want to blow my speakers or kill my amp

Hey, I got some knowledge together and I bought a 2k amp for my mid sections and an active 2/ 3 crossover then I'm going to buy a 4k amp for bass section. Would you mind explaining exactly how I would go about wiring e.g 2k amp > crossover > mixer to speaker or whatever, I have no idea
Also how would I wire the drivers in my 3 way speakers so that they only had one input

Mixer/soundsource -> active crossover -> amps -> speakers

If you are running a passive 3 way crossover in a three way box, then the amps will still go to the terminal of the speaker and then the crossover needs to be wired to the appropriate drivers. If it is a three way system with an active crossover, then the crossover feeds to each of the three amp channel inputs and then from the amp output to the appropriate speaker.

Maybe it makes more sense if I simplify it to: Passive crossovers are after the amp. Active Crossovers are before the amps.

Oh right yeah, is that because active crossovers don't need the power source of the amp?

Active crossovers send your amps the band of frequencies they need to do their job will as little degredation to the signal as poss. Passive crossover are in your speakers and are sent the full range of the signal and then filtered out at the speaker itself.
Doing it actively is more efficient for your amps and speakers and there is always a small loss in signal using passives and passive crossovers will only handle a certain power before you need to buy very expensive big ones to do the same job.
