So Ben, what you are saying is that the cabinet will more or less get the job done but it's all in the cross over from there on... right?
So just a simple cab, no port... what dimentions did you use?
that drop at 1.5k is where the hf can't reach right? is there a way to keep the 65hz low end of the cabinet and boost the top end of the woofer a bit?
anything that the cabinet can do to help us some more?
again I thank you for your trouble

yes thats correct about the cross over, a port will increase the low end a bit, i.e. make the cab play lower...... the plotts are based on a 20l cab, taking into account the loss of volume for the drivers......
working on the dip at mo for you...... a small amount of eq will help.... a bit more in the dip area and a bit less from 3k upwards.....
the dip is only 3db......

The cab only needs to be 20 liters, regardless of dimentioning? Surely a cube will create nodes and result in peaks. - or do you assume that it's going to be treated with acoustic fiber?
You recomend a plain cab then for this? will a port make things worse?
I really don't know much about crossovers since we still did not cover them at uni.

the cab has minimal accoustic foam, i.e. the back wall of cab only. A port increase the volume by 8db and a 2db boost at the low end, but the dip at 2k is made alot worse by about 18db..... smiley19
ill have a bit more of a play this week for you. But yes you cant go too wrong with the cab being 20l...... between 18l and 20l is ok.....
dont forget to take into account the driver volume, i.e. if driver was 1l the cab would need to have an internal volume of 21l, this would make the cab volume 20l.......

Dimentions for the cab Ben?
Also, adding more foam/fiber inside is just going to cut off the highs?

Hey Ben,
How do you go about figuring out the dimentions of this cab? or any cab...

well to work out the liters of a box, you first take the internal measurement, say 440mm x 272mm x 168mm
0.444 x 0.272 x 0.168 x 1000 = 20.289024 litres.
so thats 20.2L by the time you minus off the volume area of the driver the internal volume of this box is 19.8L
hope this helps,
0.444 x 0.272 x 0.168 x 1000 = 20.289024 litres.
so thats 20.2L by the time you minus off the volume area of the driver the internal volume of this box is 19.8L
hope this helps,
