Not necessarily! you could go for a very efficient 10'', check out a PD 10'' Neo, can't remember the model number, but its 102db sensitivity, allways good to have plenty of top endb52productions wrote: ok will do.

i like that they are 16 ohm meaning i can get the most out of my amps
plan to run 4 boxesmono bridged on crown ce2000 @4 ohm 1850w= 462.50 per 10".... highs will be diffrent amp.
im tryning to accomodate stacking and pole mount for smaller venues in this design but still be flyable for outdoor venues.
any recomendations?

The first tip I'll give you is that you are looking at the wrong horn for your compression drivers. DDA, B&C, and others make suitable LA waveguides for your application. Again, this is gone through on Burton-manor. It's a great site.

A few things to think about.
In my experience mid horns similar to yours start rolling off above 1200Hz. Not quite as bad as your hornresp predictions but probably not much better.
Treat yourself to a cheap (behringer or similar) measurement mic and download one of the free rta software packages to measure the response. Out-doors with a pink noise source the result should be accurate enough. This will tell you whether there is much of a dip in response before you cross over into the high frequency horn. Some manufactured cabinets have 10dB boost on the dsp in this region, so apart from making it likely you clip your power amp drastic eq can be used. Some drive units have a rising high frequency response that offsets the falling response of the horn. I once upset a few people by posting some measured responses of a well known diy horn and suggesting that this rather than the horn design contributed the better high frequency response than one would think.
With regards your high frequency horns, group them as close together as possible. Don't space them evenly across all your cabinets. Say you have four mid horns per side and eight high frequency horns. If you can fit three HF horns per cabinet, do so. The top two cabs will form a continuous line of horns which is continued with two HF offset horns in the third cabinet. The bottom mid horn will not have any HF horns. This might not be perfect but it will be the best compromise.

i didnt see any links for the waveguides you were speaking of and im not looking for perfect just want to get something that works while not breaking the bank.
i did have plans on that mic you suggested and if you have a link for the software it would be helpful
your horn placement does sound like the ideal way to go.
if i cant get a good responce down to 100hz then ill just make it a 4way system
with w-bins on the bottom and the 10" 2way boxes above. keeping my subs in the center lined horizontaly between the 2 collums. i think thats as big as im going

It is interesting to note that the wide dispersion approach has been used in horn loaded arrays on the mid horns as well.
It is even more interesting to note that you're going to want to curve your array a bit if it's going to be that small.

Yeah, well there is a reason why even the budget line arrays don't just put a few random horns into a box, stack it vertically, then say 'tada! Line Array!'
You don't have to build the plans, just cruise the site and read up on line arrays in general. They're quite specialised - and tbh, you didn't seem to have done background learning on them when you stepped through the door. [img]smileys/smiley1.gif[/img]

the box has 8 degree cut on each side so i think they should angle 15 degree when flown.
