Good morning, I have some 15hpl76s and I'd like them to go as high as possible. I saw that you can reduce the width to increase the frequency. How much should I reduce it?
I also saw a group of people who adapted a 15" woofer to the 12" cubo by modifying the front panel cutout and enlarging the baffle to 40cm with the same dimensions as the 15" cubo cutout (18cm). Is this a good idea?

thanks

I've never looked at the 18LW2400 that way but it's actually a pretty good (Cubo) kick driver (low Le, medium Vas, EBP > 100, good BL).

@ Marcuzzo: Looking at the Qts and Vas of the B&C, it is not really well suited for small rear chambers like Cubo Kick 12, I would adjust Cubo Kick 15 to 45 cm width and roll with it.
The same goes for the adaptation you saw, a 15" driver with a Qts x Vas product nearing that of a the average 12" is going to be happier in that situation than one that is not. With the right driver it is something that could work but it's going to be situation specific as well.

Thank you very much for the quick response!

That's great to hear, I'll go for it! I have one more little question. I'd like to increase the width of the cabinet from 62 cm tot 63,6 cm (so they perfectly fit on my subs), will this have a big effect on the output?

Have a great day,
Jim

It will have a slightly positive, hardly noticeable effect ;)

Hi Cubo,

Thanks for the great plans! I'm excited to make either the 12" or the 15" to go along the 2 simple ported subs I made recently.

Do you reckon these will work in the enclosures?

15"

Hi Horse,

Those three are all good mid-bass drivers, the Dayton's being lightweight neodymium's and the SB Audience having a heavy ferrite magnet. The 15W400 seems slightly more oriented at kick than the 15" Dayton but not by much. I advise to build the largest cabinet, if you can but if you can cross your ported subs at 90 - 100 Hz Cubo Kick 12 is viable.

Hello Cubo,
Is there a cutlist for the cubo kick18?

I'd like to build a couple of cubo kick 18's and I am wondering how the dimensions of the individual cuts compared to the cubo kick 15?

Hi,

At the moment there's no cut list for Cubo Kick 18.

As it's not going to fit from a shingle sheet (like Cubo Kick 15), you're going to need more than 1 sheet per cabinet, so no need for very clever spacing or placement. If you take the same approach as the Cubo Kick 15 cut sheet, starting from the right. Two panels that are 62 x 65 cm and below that two panels that are 58.4 x 65 cm. Then a whole row of panels that are all 58.4 cm wide, times the length that you can find in the construction plan.

The dimensions of the bracings (in the port and horn) and the angles are the same as Cubo Kick 15.

Hope that helps!

P.S. There are some cut sheet programs on the internet, no personal experience, as I prefer Sketchup (it's free) to make cut lists.
